Dr. Charles Burton is a distinguished Canadian sinologist, author, and analyst of China–Canada relations. He currently serves as a Senior Fellow at Sinopsis, a research platform focused on China’s influence in democratic societies. Drawing on decades of firsthand experience—from studying at Fudan University in Shanghai and Cambridge University to serving as a counsellor at the Canadian Embassy in Beijing. His career has included work with the Communications Security Establishmentof Canada’s Department of National Defence and a long tenure as a professor of political science at Brock University, where he specialized in comparative politics, human rights, and China–Canada relations. He holds a PhD from the University of Toronto and has published widely on international affairs and Chinese foreign policy. He is the author of The Beaver and the Dragon: How China Out-Manoeuvred Canada’s Diplomacy, Security, and Sovereignty, a critical examination of Canada’s engagement with China and broader geopolitical dynamics.

Dr. Essam Abdelshafy

Chairman of International Relations Academy in Turkiye , His academic voyage began at Cairo University, where he accomplished a Ph.D. in 2009, exploring the religious aspects of U.S. policy towards Saudi Arabia. Dr. Abdelshafy has held several esteemed positions, including a professor of political sciences at Sakarya University, Turkiye since September 2015, and Director of the Egyptian Institute for Political and Strategic Studies since September 2014. His dedication to research was evident during his terms as a visiting researcher at Al-Jazeera Center for Studies and as Director of Studies in the Diplomatic Center for Strategic Studies in Doha, Qatar.
