This episode explores a challenging and important topic: how the Chinese government’s efforts to adapt Marxism to fit Chinese culture, known as the Sinicization of Marxism, affect the Uyghur people. The Chinese government believes this process helps build a Chinese identity by absorbing others. But for Uyghurs and other Turks in East Turkistan, it is destroying anyone who is not Chinese. We’ll also discuss how Uyghurs see the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), and the arrival of Han Chinese settlers in their homeland.
